How to install the Graco Extend2Fit car seat using LATCH system rear-facing
- To install rear-facing using the LATCH system on the Graco Extend2Fit car seat, please follow the steps below. You may wish to watch this video to see a demonstration.

Attach the top tether hook to the plastic bar on the right side of the car seat (please see image below taken from the Instruction Manual).

Push in on the red buttons on the LATCH connectors and remove them from storage location (please see image below taken from the Instruction Manual).

Ensure the LATCH strap is in the rear-facing belt path (marked with a blue label). -

Recline the car seat by pulling on the handle at the front of the child constraint, so that the car seat is in recline position 1, 2, 3 or 4. -

Place the car seat rear-facing in the vehicle's back seat. Its base should sit as flat as possible on the vehicle seat. Ensure at least 80% of the base is on the vehicle seat.

Squeeze the adjustment handle and pull the extender out to have additional leg room (please see image below taken from the Instruction Manual). Use position 2, 3 or 4 of the extender if your child is above 18 kg.

Adjust the seat until the ball is completely in the blue zone in the Level Indicator. Your vehicle must be on level ground when you check the indicator. The ball must completely cover the light blue circle if your child is below 3 months old.

Extend the LATCH strap to its maximum length.

Press down firmly at the center of the car seat and tighten the LATCH strap (please see image below taken from the Instruction Manual). You may need to tighten through the slit in the pad at the belt path.

Grab the sides of the car seat and slide it side-to-side and front-to-back to test for tightness. The car seat should move less than 2.5 cm. -

Check the Level Indicator again to ensure the ball is completely within the blue zone. The ball must completely cover the light blue circle if your child is below 3 months old. Readjust the car seat or place rolled towels under the car seat at the vehicle seat crease if needed.

Why can't you use both LATCH strap and seat belt for Graco baby Extend2Fit car seat?
The Graco Extend2Fit car seat is designed to withstand crash forces in specific ways, such as with the LATCH strap only or with the seat belt only. When both the LATCH strap and seat belt are placed through the same belt path, crash forces could be exerted on the car seat shell from different angles, thus causing breakage. Therefore, both the LATCH strap and seat belt should not be used at the same time.
How should a Graco Extend2Fit car seat sit?
The base of the Graco Extend2Fit car seat should sit as flat as possible on the vehicle seat. There should be at least 80% of the base on the vehicle seat.
