Windows 7 Homegroup after changing router to Belkin Playmax N600 Hard disk

  • Question

  • Hullo,

I have had a network setup in my house with my one-time Thomson wireless G router for months. I take 4 computers all running windows 7 x64bit and in that location was a homegroup setup that permit me share all my files and nearly chiefly I could stream music and videos etc to my pc connected to the TV with media center running. I could also run into the "PC media servers" on my phone (A windows Telephone 7 mobile) and play songs from them or play to the various computers etc. All computers are connected wirelessly btw. Side by side I bought a new Belkin N600 Playmax Router for faster speeds. I installed the router internet was all working computers tin can all see each other in network ping works including ping -vi by name to all the different computers only homegroup no longer works. ALso none of the devices can see whatsoever of the shared media libraries anymore. I left the homegroup on every automobile and tried creating on whatever of the 4 machines but none of them ever sees the others homegroup or offers to join. Furthermore media servers tin still not be seen and play to doesn't work either(Biggest problem).

Now but to make things ultimately disruptive if I bring in a new laptop (Aka a friends 1. Have tried this with 2 machines to the same issue) and create a homegroup on that one time it has continued to the wireless network all the other four machines can come across it and join still only the "outsider/friends machine" tin can run across all the computers that take joined and their respective media servers. The other 4 still can't come across whatever of themselves only the media server and homegroup shared files on the "outsider/firend" machine. I'chiliad so stummped I don't know what to exercise. As presently equally I turn my old router on once again and connect the 4 pcs to its network then create a homegroup everything instantly works fine! PLEASE Please Delight aid I'one thousand then desperate. Accept tried calling Belkin for over 8 hours to no avail and reset the router 4 times and even had information technology replaced twcie to no avail.

Merely other note when I await at network on any of my 4 pcs the only media servers that testify upwards there or in windows media thespian is the belkin Playmax n600 media server and the one for whichever PC I'm on. If I connect a USB HDD to the router then they can all see it fine as well.

    PCS:

    Toshiba Qosmio x500

    HP Touchsmart 610-1120a

  • Hi,

I only desire to know whether this trouble only occurs when you use "Playmax N600 Hard disk"?

According to your clarification, I would like to suggest y'all please endeavor post-obit steps to leave homegroup on each machine:

one. Get to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking and delete all of the files in this folder(please back up these folder earlier deleting). At present restart the computer.

two. Become to Services again and you should exist able to start 'Peer Networking Grouping' and 'Peer Proper name Resolution Protocol'. Restart the reckoner over again.

iii. When you log on this time, yous should now have total functionality restored to your homegroup. Please attempt to leave habitation group again.

Subsequently that please recreate a homegroup, and join it again.

    Hope that helps
